Activity Summary

Summary of the activities of Iran Cultural House WA for the period of 1st July 2011 to 30th June 2012 follows:

1. Social Gatherings and Events

From 1st July 2011 until 30th June 2012, the total of 37 Events/Gatherings have been hold. Total number of attendees was 1737 (%66 percent increase comparing to the preceding year). Total of 1150 guests participatd at ICH Persian New Year events (800+ at Charshanbeh Suri Celebration).

2. Persian Language School

Persian language school operated at South Perth Primary School. The operation was smooth and the number of classes, students, teachers and teacher assistants are increased.

3. Support Services

Multiple occasions of visits to refugees in Perth Detention Centres, Community Detentions, Hospitals, etc and numbers of visits to new arrivals have been made. Also provided support services to number of new arrivals including refugees for housing, resume writing, job seeking, etc.

4. Other Activities

External Relations

The relationship with local government authorities and NGOs, including Premier, few WA State Cabinet Ministers, some of local council Mayors and some Members of Parliament, DIAC, Red Cross, LWB, CARAD, IOM, PIDC, Communicare, Mercy Care and ASeTTS have been strengthened and ICH team participated in numbers of related meetings, information sessions, functions, and Community Stakeholder Forums.

ICH websites and facebook pages have been maintained and kept up-to-date with regular posting of events, occasions and announcements.
