At least 30 people including Iranians, Kurds and Iraqis are died after a wooden boat carrying upto 100 asylum seekers reportedly crashed into cliffs on Christmas Island. 42 people survived the crash. The crash occurred about 6am local time (15/12/2010).
Arrangements would be made to hold memorial services on December 19 or 20 to "allow people to grieve" for at least 30 victims.

Iranians Muslim Association of Western Australia Inc and Iran Cultural House of WA have been in contact with immigration department on this issue and offered help in search, to visit and assist survivors and also for the funeral of those who died in this tragedy.
