ICWA ANNUAL REPORT
Fiscal Year 2017 – 2018

1.  Social gatherings and events
From 1st July 2017 until 30th June 2018, the total of 17 events has been held. 
The events were include two Persian Community Fairs, Persian New Year Festival events (Charshanbeh Suri, Persian Art Exhibition, Eid NooRooz, Sizdeh Bedar) and 10 sessions of Professional Network Night that being held on monthly basis.

2.  Iranian Professional Network

In line with the commitment of the Iranian Community of Western Australia for supporting Iranian professionals and businesses, the Iranian Professionals Network (IPN) has been formed in August 2018. 
IPN provides opportunities for networking, knowledge and experience sharing, and a positive, supportive, and structured environment for the development and exchange of quality business leads. A steering committee comprising of 8 IPN members is now in charge of managing the IPN.

Membership of Kaleidoscope Steering Committee Project
Kaleidoscope is a project implemented by the City of Stirling and funded by the Office of Multicultural Interests. The Kaleidoscope Initiative aims to harness the economic benefits of migration by enabling newcomers to obtain employment in their field of expertise and supporting employers to reap the rewards of a diverse workforce. Key elements of the project include:
·  development of an employer partnership program that supports employers to harness the benefits of a diverse workforce through the provision of cultural competency training, diverse workforce strategies and networking opportunities
·  the development of a professional immigrant networks program that actively support newcomers to achieve employment outcomes through networking events, professional development and connections to employment opportunities/services
·  working in conjunction with professional immigrant networks, community agencies and employer partners to establish a mentoring program which matches skilled immigrants with mentors in their field
·  to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the project through development of an independent body that brings together employers, professional immigrant networks, community agencies and other stakeholders
ICWA joined the Kaleidoscope Project Steering Committee in August 2017. ICWA representatives attended the Kaleidoscope project meetings and events since 16th October 2017.

3.  Management Team

From 1st July 2017 until 30th June 2018, total of six meeting of management team has been held. ICWA management team has six members who equally participate in decision making. The team performed well in running ICWA affairs during the past year, particularly in holding Persian New Year Festival events.

4.  External Relation

(1) Representatives from Department of Home Affairs, Office of Multicultural Interests, City of Cockburn, City of Stirling, Town of Victoria Park, WA Police and ECCWA were attended that Persian Art Exhibition opening function.

(2) Representatives of Department of Home Affairs, City of Stirling, Russian Association of WA, Claddagh Association (Irish) and many more participated at the Persian New Year Celebration event.

(3) Representative of Iranian Community has been participated at few events including:
  • OMI Community Languages Program Sundowner and meeting the Hon Paul Papalia MLA, Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Interests, in July 2017.
  • Sikh Association Open Day in Sep 2017 by invitation from the President of Sikh Association of WA (SAWA), Mr Gurdarshan Singh Kailey.
  • Meeting with the Federal Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, the Hon Alan Tudge MP at Department of Home Affairs in April 2018.
  • Farewell the former Governor of WA, her Excellency the Hon Kerry Sanderson AC, by invitation from Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA in April 2018.
  • Kim Beazley Swearing In as Governor of WA in May 2018, by invitation from Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA
  • Parliamentary Ramadan Iftar dinner in June 2018, by invitation from Hon Chris Tallentire MLA
  • WA Police Commissioner’s Morning Tea in June 2018 by invitation from Chris Dawson, the Commissioner of Police.
